Consider your internet connection as a highway. When multiple people from same the ISP are using the internet at the same time, especially during the night then all of them send and receive data which is what causes your internet connection to slow down.
What are the timings?
Most of the internet connections tend to slow down somewhere between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM. These are the times when most of the people in your neighborhood are using the internet which causes high traffic and the process of sending and receiving the slows down.
The most probable cause of high traffic is streaming services such as Hulu, YouTube, Netflix which take a lot of data. So, when most of the people are streaming simultaneously, it causes your connection to slow down.
How to avoid Internet slowing at night?
- If you are a fan of binge-watching, then you should download videos in off-peak, in the morning or during the day. So, while the internet is slow during peak hours, you can watch the downloaded videos in those times.
- You can also switch your ISP, considering one which has fewer subscribers so, in peak hours there may be less traffic and consequently, the connection will not be much slower.
- Another thing that you can do is upgrade to a faster internet plan. Maybe you have a connection which has less bandwidth and in peak hours it gets even slower. Upgrading your plan will help you to some extent.
